Rustic Bowl

Scottish Oak

105mm tall and 150mm in diameter across the widest part.

Gifted to Allan K who generously donated logs for turning

#059

This piece was crafted from the same Scottish Oak log used for item #057. Unfortunately, this piece was in an even more deteriorated condition. After much contemplation, I chose to embrace its rusticity, refraining from using resin or any other traditional repair methods. The end result, while unconventional, possesses a unique charm.

The piece was sanded to a 600 grit finish and treated with food-safe Beeswax and Linseed oil. This approach not only preserved its natural allure but also ensured its suitability for use with food. Despite its rough origins, this piece stands as a testament to the beauty that can be found in imperfection.
