Hollow Form Vase

Olivewood

220mm tall and 800mm in diameter across the top rim

Retained in my personal collection

#045

This piece marks my first hollow form, crafted from a beautiful piece of Olive Wood. Initially, I set out to create a mortar and pestle, but the piece’s height and the stunning presentation of the bark section made me reconsider. It seemed almost sacrilegious to rough away such natural beauty. As it turns out, many of my projects seem to take on a life of their own, evolving in unexpected ways as they progress. This piece stands as a testament to the beauty that can emerge when we allow the material’s natural characteristics to guide our craftsmanship.
