Calabash Style Bowl

I started out this piece with a certain shape in mind and, after the initial shaping, found myself spending quite a long time making minute adjustments using a sheer scraping method until, almost magically, the very curve I had imagined was there. I had learnt from past experience to follow my instincts so at that point I laid down the gouge and started the sanding. The piece is finished with pure beeswax.
